About this template
What is a social media calendar in 2024? A social media content calendar is essential for planning and managing your social marketing content. All social media calendars usually contain the post’s content (copy and graphic assets), hashtags to use, and accounts to mention, as well as the social channels, publish date and time, content owner, and a status field.
A more robust calendar will include each post's campaign or business objective and how well each performed post-publication. That way, you can gauge your content strategy’s success at a glance and refine it as needed.
Who is this social media calendar template for? Whether you’re a large-scale organization or a smaller company, a calendar is critical in helping maintain productivity and prevent delays.
  • Marketing - When you’re managing multiple campaigns, a social media calendar can reduce the potential for confusion or error by keeping everyone on the same page. It also simplifies getting approvals from busy stakeholders too.
  • Agencies – Agencies work in fast-paced environments and often produce many social campaigns for various clients simultaneously. Using calendar templates for each client (and target) can help teams stay aligned.
  • Media companies – Media organizations often have scheduled editorial months before content publication. Given this lead time and the promotion volume, social media or editorial calendars are must-have tools that many staff and stakeholders need to access.
  • Business owners and bloggers – If you are a one-person shop, a calendar is a vital time-saving tool that lets you effortlessly plan content and check it against your objectives and strategy.
How do I create a social media calendar? The easiest way to create your social media calendar is by clicking 'Start with this template'. Planning your social media is made simple by dividing your work between your scheduled content and your results. And if you’re already managing your calendar in a CSV or spreadsheet, you can quickly import it into AppFlowy to get to speed immediately.
Tips to get started with our social media calendar template For the best results, pair your new calendar with these three steps:
Step 1 - Consider your social media strategy before posting.
If you want to run a successful social media vertical, you should start by asking yourself a few questions. Questions like:
  1. What’s the goal?
  2. What social channels are you posting on?
  3. How frequently should you post on each channel?
  4. Are there channels that better reach some audiences more than others? What type of content is appropriate for each target?
Step 2 - Spend as much time celebrating results as follower count.
Don’t be afraid to get down to the nitty-gritty. Do posts on Tuesdays perform better than Wednesdays? What time are you seeing the best results? Do those posts have an image? Dive deep, then drop your knowledge in the “Notes about posts” section of your schedule, so you can glean the most insight.
Step 3 - Organize your ideas and backlog:
Once you’ve analyzed your results, use your template to take notes on future post ideas (like a week of themed posts!) or social-friendly photos and other assets. Populate your calendar template(s) as far in advance as possible. The further out you plan, the more time you have to polish your content.
